Hello new year of opportunity & adventure!
January can be a bit of a weird time for business. Often people are all shopped-out after the holidays and it can be difficult to know where to spend your time and energy. This quiet time can be really productive for your business, and I highly encourage you to take advantage of any slow times to fortify your business from the backend. I utilize this quiet time at the start of the year to refresh and clean up my online spaces (website, social media, email list) so they are ready for a new year of business.

I like to spend some time with my goals and ambitions at the start of the year, and I've included a blog for setting small business goals if you struggle with goal-setting. These tips are my cheat sheet for setting goals, I feel like it takes away the pressure when I can start with a big concept and then whittle my way down to an actionable list. There’s a common saying when it comes to goal setting that is also really helpful to keep in mind, make your goals SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Timely. )

Business Babe Highlight:
It's me! I'd like to start the year off with a highlight on myself, and then throughout the year I will try to shine a light on a new business babe every month.
I started Kelp Forest Co three years ago while I was living in Vancouver, I was working casually as an assistant shooting commercials with Best Buy, local Universities and occasionally on a huge film set as a production assistant. I was also working freelance as a graphic designer and a content writer and when I discovered Shopify through a friend who was working for them, and I had an epiphany! I could use all my skills of graphic design, storytelling and my strong passion for small business to help create beautiful online spaces for other passionate business owners. I quickly enrolled in the Shopify Partner program and started learning the platform.
I moved back to the Okanagan in the Spring of 2019 and have been slowly building up traction in this wonderful community of creatives and entrepreneurs. I am so happy to have found some of my recent clients through social media, I love being able to support local businesses through support for their online stores while the flourish doing what they were born to do. Its a beautiful partnership and I hope to make many more in the coming years.
